PART 2: INNOVATION CHALLENGE - REIMAGINE, REUSE, RECLAIM:
A workshop focusing on the upcycling & repurposing of building materials
The fourth installment of the small talks series is hosted in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Los Angeles’ 2x8 Exhibition & Student Design Competition at Helms Design Center in Culver City. Join small talks:LA for a design charrette workshop focused on repurposing the recyclable building materials used in the exhibition.
This participatory design workshop will be tailored to students, professionals, activists and community members that have interest in using their hands and words to make an impact. The workshop will touch on the creative re-use of materials and the shared community values that shape the design process. At small talks:LA, we believe everyone is a designer and everyone deserves a seat at the table. Join us and share your voice!
The event will begin with a workshop with three rotating stations led by experts focused on creative reuse, fabrication, and community organizing. Participants will work in small groups to create built objects and innovative ideas that they can bring back to their communities.
