Indesem (International Design Seminar) is a biennial workshop series that has been set up by students and supporting staff since 1962 at the Faculty of Architecture in Delft, The Netherlands. This year will be a special edition, as we will also celebrate its 50 years anniversary. Indesem’13 is a week long workshop for students and recent graduates, accompanied by a publicly accessible lecture series featuring renowned architects and theorists reflecting on the current theme. Previous editions of Indesem have had the honor (opportunity) to welcome famous speakers, like Renzo Piano, Rem Koolhaas, Herman Hertzberger, Winy Maas, Peter Smithson, Aldo van Eijck, Jean Nouvel and Ben van Berkel and several renowned theoretics, like Michael Speaks, Bruno Latour, Anthony Vidler and Saskia Sassen. The fundamental idea of the seminar is to create an environment where students and professionals can debate about the position of an architect. The outcome can contribute to the current architectural discussion. This year’s edition has chosen a theme that is both timeless and urgently current: “Scale Matters” and will thereby explore the fundamental scale-shifting nature of architecture, a most appropriate topic for the anniversary of this lauded event! Competition to participate in the workshop is open for applicants until 26th February 2013. For more information on the competition, theme, speakers and workshop you can go to the events official website. www.indesem.nl
