It has just been announced that schmidt hammer lassen architects has won the competition for the new campus for VIA University College in Skejby, Aarhus, Denmark.
The VIA Campus is a remarkable educational facility which will serve to unite activities of one of Denmarks largest educational institutions situated in central Jutland . By doing so the planned 27.000 m2 campus site will help to create increased social and professional cohesion and explore synergies across various disciplines. The project chosen takes as its part of departure a vision of a flexible and dynamic study environment, where students, teachers and visiting guest can meet under one roof and exchange and generate knowledge and innovative ideas. ”The heart” of the new campus will be a centrally placed square situated between the four wings of the building. This will be the buzzing meeting point for the approximately 2.000 studerende, who will use the premises on a daily basis.
