MyMovieStudio Movie Pitch Contest
Register/Submit: Sunday, August 31, 2008

MyMovieStudio uses crowdsourcing to develop, finance, and produce feature films. Users post original ideas that they want to see up on the big screen, and users decide as a group (by awarding Green Lights, or votes) which of their ideas should be made into movies.

We’re now putting out a call for entries in the form of movie pitches.  No preference is given to movie pitches accompanied by great poster art but we have a strong feeling that pitches supported by great promotional art will win the member-judged pitch contest.  Hence this posting on Bustler!

When the user base reaches critical mass, we plan to form an investment vehicle and issue $100 shares for sale to members. We hope to raise $6 million (60,000 shares at $100 each) to finance three $2 million films selected by the membership.  When the films are financed, the three winning Movie Pitch authors will receive $25,000, sole STORY BY credit on the screenplays and movies based on their ideas, and trips to their own red carpet premieres.

The idea grew out of our observation that almost everyone is displeased with what’s available at the multiplex, but putting together your own movie as an independent writer, director, or producer is nearly impossible.  MyMovieStudio represents a way for thousands of people on an individual level to have films they can call their own (quite literally the shares represent actual equity stakes in the slate of films, so when the films make money, the investors make money).

We’re just getting started.  Early entries have an advantage in that they have more time to collect Green Lights.  Submission is free, and no investment is required in order to award Green Lights or participate in the pitch contest.  For more information and to post your movie pitch, go to http://mymoviestudio.net

Thanks and good luck!

My idea is for an animated film about an entire world at the bottom of a well. Pls review my novel, Frog in the Well, at http://www.froginthewell.com.

In this colorful world lives a humble dung beetle, Simon. Caught in a power struggle between the religious fundamentalists and the republicans, his fate will eventually intertwine with that of the emperor of the world — a frog! To complicate matters, a butterfly from the outside gets sucked down into the well by a gust of wind!

Although dry, the well is a fantastic place. Home to thousands of bottom-dwellers, it is crowded with bustling markets, coliseums, and temples. There are also puddles that are filled with boats and ships, trying to catch bountiful harvests. On the docks and harbors, frantic mercantile activity flourishes. And the hundreds of tributaries that feed into the puddles are crammed with bridges, shops, and cafés. Dwarf tree houses can be seen everywhere, along with thousands of mushroom cottages and mansions. The foot of the interior wall is also riddled with dwellings, embellished by countless little windows and balconies.

The well has a fascinating history. In ancient times, entire civilizations clashed with one another for survival. They even built the Great Wall to keep out the barbarians! And the epic battles were filled with catapults, siege towers, and charging rhinoceros beetles!

Frog in the Well is peppered with bittersweet humor throughout; it is a timeless parable that raises questions about the meaning of life.
