Homestead Museum: First Sunday Picnic | August 7, recommended by Justine Testado
When was the last time you enjoyed an old-school picnic, with nothing but a blanket, a basket of food, and good company? If it won't be too hot outside this weekend, rally up your family or friends, have a picnic, and play some vintage board games on the lawn of La Casa Nueva, a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival mansion located on the 6-acre site of the Homestead Museum in the City of Industry (which is about 20 miles east of Downtown L.A.). It might also be worth booking a tour to explore the historical houses beforehand.

New Americans | Open now until August 21, recommended by Amelia Taylor-Hochberg
Sourced from the juggernaut of empathic portraiture, Humans of New York, this exhibition features photos, videos and audio from Syrian refugees resettling in the U.S. The exhibition complements the parallel exhibition, "Refugees", setting a smidge of optimistic closure in what is otherwise an ongoing crisis of displacement and alienation.

Picasso and His Printers | Open now until November 27, recommended by Alexander Walter
This latest exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art takes a unique look at the close and cooperative collaborations Pablo Picasso developed with his master printers and often maintained over many decades. Venturing into experimental territory through often unorthodox methods and innovative techniques, Picasso's cooperative work with printers pushed the boundaries of the medium.
