This week is one of the first in the season to demand a coat. With nights starting to draw in, the temperature dropping, and with many galleries and events opening later in the evenings, now is the perfect time to replace parks with free exhibitions. This year’s Stirling Prize winning project is one such gallery to visit on a cold, windy October day.

Hyundai Commission: Philippe Parreno: Anywhen | Open now until 2 April
A ‘spectacular choreography of acoustics, sound lighting, flying objects and film’ combine in this exhibition, bringing the qualities of each individual element together to create a much bigger ‘score’. each connected to the other and playing their part in a far bigger score. Tate Modern’s famous, iconic Turbine Hall space is the setting of this chaotic, changeable commission of unique situations which are dependant on the change of micro-organisms inside a visible bioreactor.

Exhibtion: Droplet | 14 October - 16 December
Opening this week is Droplet, an immersive exploration of Sto’s Intelligent Technology range, through an artwork which is influenced by the history of florists, watchmakers, architects and sculptors. Taking inspiration from the historical watch and flower markets of Clerkenwell, 100 pendulums are suspended above 100 petal-like forms, which will be gradually filled throughout the exhibition with coloured fluid dripping down the suspension wires. This evolving work is much of an exploration of materials as it is of the concept of time.

One to book for next week before it sells out:
