Six firms have made it onto the shortlist for the 2008 Young Architect of the Year Awards, sponsored by Autodesk.
Supported by BD magazine and part of the Architect of the Year Awards, the Young Architect category aims to celebrate and highlight young practices and up-and-coming talent in architecture from around the world. The award, which has been running for ten years, draws entries from dynamic practices who are successfully challenging architectural design traditions in new and exciting ways. The winning practice will receive a prize of £5,000.
The YAYA 2008 shortlist:
- AOC
- Feix & Merlin Architects
- Hackett Hall McKnight
- Kraus Schoenberg
- McChesney Architects
- Serie Architects
The overall winner will be announced at the Architect of the Year Awards on 30th October at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
AOC
AOC was formed in 2008 by Tom Coward, Daisy Froud, Vincent Lacovara and Geoff Shearcroft.
Feix & Merlin Architects
Julia Feix and Tarek Merlin met whilst working at SMC Alsop, before setting up their own practice in 2006.
Hackett Hall McKnight
Hackett Hall McKnight was established in 2003 by Mark Hackett and Alastair Hall, with Ian McKnight joining in 2008.
Kraus Schoenberg
McChesney Architects
McChesney Architects was founded in 2001 by Ian McChesney, formerly an associate with John McAslan & Partners.
Serie Architects
Christopher Lee and Kapil Gupta
