With the ever-increasing digitisation of our society, it is more important than ever to connect performers with their audiences in authentic and accessible performance venues. Cities and rural communities alike are seeing a decline in small independent venues, who find it all-but impossible to compete with large-scale arenas and the peer-pervasive reach of the internet.
Connolly’s of Leap has been hosting live music acts for over 200 years, and it fully intends to carry on doing so, with plans to restore and reinvigorate its performance space. Collaborating with Bee Breeders architecture competition organisers, the venue’s current owners are looking for innovative designs that marry its rich history with modern accessibility, in order to create the music venue that modern millennials so keenly desire.
The Irish Cult Music Venue architecture competition is now open until April 13. Winners will be announced on June 6, 2018, with selected designs being put forward for consideration for construction.
