The Modern Collective Living Challenge is part of the Bee Breeders Housing Crisis competition series. For this architecture competition, participants are tasked with envisioning new forms of accessible housing for relocated farmers in rural China.
The unprecedented scale of the China's urbanization has lead to millions of people from rural areas being moved to more urbanized areas. This relocation has been fraught with many challenges, one of which is the difficulty experienced by older generations of adapting to a move away from collective living, leaving their small, family-like communities for sometimes hostile urban environments.
Participants are being challenged to create design concepts for modern housing communities that would be in keeping with the collective living lifestyle, which could also be implemented across the country on a very limited budget.
The Modern Collective Living Challenge is now open for registration until September 20, with a total prize fund of US$ 6,000 for all winning entries. Visit collectiveliving.beebreeders.com for more information.
