Delve into a discussion about architecture's rising “third wave of feminism” with Despina Stratigakos, the author of the recently published book “Where Are the Women Architects?”. Following a presentation, Stratigakos will have a timely conversation about her book's themes with Lori Brown (Architexx co-founder, Syracuse University Associate Professor of Architecture) and Joan Blumenfeld (Perkins + Will principal, Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation chairperson).

Memory Trace | Opening on April 20, recommended by Justine Testado
As part of Fazal Sheikh's “Erasures” project, “Memory Trace” will showcase a site-specific installation replication of the Israeli Separation Wall that will take over the entire interior and exterior of the Storefront for Art and Architecture. The Wall will display a poignant recollection of landscape photos, portraits, interviews, and other traces of information revolving around the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict and all those who have long been affected by it.

Heroism and Hubris: A conversation with Chris Grimley, Michael Kubo, Michael McKinnell, Joan Ockman, Mark Pasnik and Anthony Vidler | April 21, recommended by Alexis Petrunia
This Thursday, sit in on a discussion that examines complex questions surrounding concrete modernism of the 1960s and 1970s in the U.S. Authors Mark Pasnik, Chris Grimley, and Michael Kubo will connect with architect Michael McKinnell to unpack the conceptions and social ideals of this architectural period — one that transformed American cities such as Boston in the postwar era.

A Year with Children 2016 | Opening on April 22, recommended by Amelia-Taylor Hochberg
Each year, the Guggenheim hosts an exhibition of work by children from grades two through six, coming from twelve different public schools across New York City’s five boroughs. Now in its 45th year, the students have been collaborating with professional artists all throughout the school year, learning about the creative process, critical thinking, and curiosity. The artworks on display include collages, drawings, paintings, prints and sculptures.

And here's another (late-night) event goodie at the Guggenheim this week: It Takes Two boasts an impressive lineup of speakers and performers addressing questions of creative collaboration and the power of pairs. Participants represent the fields of art, dance, music, film, and architecture, including noteworthy pairs such as Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio, Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, and Lise Anne Couture and Hani Rashid.
