RESHAPE18 | sensing materialities

Register/Submit Deadline:  Friday, Sep 7, 201812 AMBST

DEADLINE EXTENDED at the 7th of September!

Reshape competition is organized by Noumena in collaboration with IN(3D)USTRY - From Needs to Solutions and Fira de Barcelona, to foster the use and adoption of Additive & Advanced Manufacturing on wearable and product design.

For the IV edition Reshape split its category into two: wearable technology and product design.

The wearable technology category challenges designers to propose a new garment solution, relevant to the environment and human health.

We seek a wide variety of proposals, from innovative materials and wearable electronics applications to prosthetics solutions, negotiating with our body’s needs.
We are looking for wearable products that tackle daily problems, such as respiration, contamination, harmful body postures, disabilities, and stress.

The submitted project needs to present a clear prototyping methodology involving digital manufacturing technologies. Interdisciplinary processes, experimental approaches and innovative design production strategies are required to become the new pioneers of this digital age.

The Product design category is addressed to all designers interested in product solution, that promotes well-being. In a wide range of applications, from sports goods to medical devices.

Reshape challenges makers and designers to present a product able to negotiate the forces shaping our environments; monitoring, sensing, and interacting with the physical and digital world. Proposals must take into consideration the social impact of their production and consumption cycle. Interdisciplinary processes, experimental approaches and innovative design production strategies are required to become the pioneers of the digital age.

From each of the two categories, Wearable technology and Product design

will be selected 10 projects, which will be invited to participate in the RESHAPE FORUM and at the RESHAPE EXHIBITION (16th and 18th of October 2018).

During three days event, the designers will have the opportunity to present their projects at the Reshape and IN(3D)USTRY- From Need to Solution audience and have a 1:1 corner meeting with the Reshape's partners and jury members. The two winners from the Reshape competition 2018 will be announced at the Award Ceremony with up to 2000 €  of financial support, connection with the Reshape networks and Interviews and publications from Reshape media partners.
