Mystery Build

Pixel + Steel is proud to announce the first ever Mystery Build Contest! Inspired by the idea that within the creative mind the possibilities are endless, even given a limited number of resources.

Mystery Build is about ingenuity, expression, and imagination. Life is what you make of it, and so is Mystery Build.

Challenge yourself and showcase your creativity while competing to win cash and prizes.  Here’s how it works:  Pixel + Steel has chosen 18 different sculpting materials and assembled them into Mystery Build Kits. Every Mystery Build Kit is identical and each Kit contains over 50 pieces. The Kits measure  12″ x  9″ x   3″ and weigh 2.5 pounds.  The specific materials in the Kit will be unknown to you at the time of purchase but you can expect to find some common sculpting materials like wood, metal, clay and fiber.

Create a unique sculpture or work of art around the contest’s theme (Interpret a Song) using ONLY the materials in your Mystery Build Kit.  You may use as many or as few of the materials in the Kit as you would like, and you may use the Mystery Build box itself. You may use  any tools you would like to create your work of art, barring tools that add material such as a stapler, which adds staples, or a soldering operation.

Submit your work of art to mysterybuild.com by July 31, 2011 to be eligible for prizes. A qualified panel of judges will select the Grand Prize winner and on-line voters will choose the People’s Choice Award. The Grand for Mystery Build – Interpret a Song is $1000, the People’s Choice Award is $300.  In addition Pixel  + Steel will choose three Notable Entry award winners who will receive Mystery Build Prize Packages.
