Dwell on Design, the West Coast's largest Design Show, returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center on June 22-24, 2012.
Curated by the editors of Dwell Magazine, the three-day celebration brings together the best and brightest products, services, and thought leaders in modern design today for a series of conversations, demonstrations, tours, and much more. In addition to featuring over 350 exhibitors on the show floor, Dwell on Design encourages an ongoing design dialogue, showcasing over 70 presentations on three separate stages.
Join us this year as the show goes beyond the urban dwelling to encompass all aspects of the modern lifestyle, seeking out a new definition for "modern beyond expectations."
2012 Highlights:
Swiss Mix - Special Showcase on Swiss Design
Every year, Dwell on Design has a special international design exhibition. This year, our eye turns to the small but undeniable design powerhouse that is Switzerland. From the Swiss Design Prize exhibition that will feature the work of the 2011 winners of the illustrious awards program that hands out prizes to the best in Swiss fashion, product, textile, furniture design, and more; to the informative sustainable swiss design programming that will be taking place on stage, this year, Dwell on Design is crazy for Swiss Mix.
Screenplay by Oyler Wu
Ever wonder how does a line become spatial? Come find out. For the first time, Dwell on Design has commissioned local design stars Oyler Wu Collaborative to create an original sculptural structure. Follow the making of Screenplay here and be sure to stop by to check it out in person.
Dwell Outdoor
Don't miss the annual pop-up prefab village featuring the best of outdoor living products, structures, and accessories. Design Provocateurs and How to "Dwell-It-Yourself"
Over the course of three days, Dwell on Design will feature round-the-clock programming on three separate stages, showcasing the brightest minds and the most interesting design provocateurs in the industry today. Interviews available with author and chief eternal optimist Cameron Sinclair, architect Chad Oppenheim, Emmy award-winning actor and green home owner Bryan Cranston, and ecological design innovator Mitchell Joachim.
Dwell on Design Home Tours
Returning this year, the super popular Dwell Home Tours. In addition to the East Side and West Side Home Tours, Dwell is adding a third hot ticket item: the Prefab Plus Home Tour, checking out the latest and greatest prefab structures that LA has to offer. Tickets cost $85 for a single day and $25 for the Meet the Architects Night. Purchase a two-day pass to receive free tickets to the Meet the Architects reception.
Green Car Ride and Drive
In conjunction with Green Car Journal, Dwell on Design presents the 2nd Annual Green Car Ride and Drive. From electric to hybrid, biodiesel to hydrogen fuel cell, this is your chance to step into the future. Design Clinics to Cure Any Design Dilemma
Suffering from a nagging design dilemma or a general lack of inspiration? Then sign up to see the doctor. The design doctors, that is. Dwell on Design presents three different design clinics this year to answer any design quandaries, indoors or out. The Architect's Newspaper will host the architecture clinic. Cultivate will host the interior design clinic. And new this year, Monrovia Nursery will host the first-ever landscape design clinics.
Modern Family Zone
For the budding modernists, check out the Modern Family pavilion sponsored by leading green parenting blog Inhabitots. The pavilion will showcase play structures, play products, and other design ideas for little ones. Check out the winners of the Pacific Standard Time Lego Modern Home Design Competition while you're at it.
AIA|LA Restaurant Design Awards
