Eleanor Allwork Scholarship

Purpose
Financial aid for deserving students in architecture.

Awards
Three grants of $10,000 will be awarded.

Eligibility
Students seeking their first professional degree in architecture from an
NAAB accredited school within the State of New York. The Dean or Chair of
the architectural school shall invite up to three students from their
respective schools to apply based on their high level of academic
performance and evidence of financial need. Financial need of the student
can be demonstrated by having already been awarded some form of monetary
aid, having a student loan in place, or being designated as being in need
by the Financial Aid Officer of the school.

Submission Requirements
Submit one 8.5 x 11 (A4) binder with the following:
• A cover page with full contact information (name, home address and
school, phone and email), project dates and 25-50 word descriptions of
projects enclosed
• Submit two student projects as examples of work. Submissions of
collaborative projects where the applicant’s role is not clear are
discouraged. Please submit flat artwork only, copies are acceptable. Please
do not submit slides.
• One letter of recommendation from a key faculty member familiar with
applicant’s work is required. If possible, the applicant is asked to
submit a second letter from an architect who can testify to achievement and
professional promise demonstrated through work in an architectural office.
• A resume or curriculum vitae
• Provide a large self-addressed stamped envelope for return of entries;
if you are in the New York City area you may indicate with a written note
that you will pick up your portfolio – all portfolios must be picked up
by June 30, 2008.

Entries must be received at the Center by 6 PM EST, Friday, April 18th, 2008.
Award checks will be issued to the schools for distribution to students in
early September 2008. (Cooper Union students will be issued checks directly
and must submit a completed W9 form with their application.)
