Now in its 30th year, Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Agency are pleased to announce that its 2023 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition is now open for entries. With previous winners like Rockwell Group, Perkins&Will, and Snøhetta, this prestigious awards program celebrates projects from North American architects and designers that utilize Italian ceramic and porcelain tile. Carrying on the program’s tradition of recognizing and empowering the next generation of professional architects and designers, this year's cycle will once again be accepting submissions from students who create imaginative spaces using Italian tile. Students must be enrolled at an accredited university in North America to be eligible.

Projects in the four built categories – Residential (Single-Family), Residential (Multi-Family), Commercial and Institutional – along with renderings in the Student design category - should demonstrate how Italian tile is used to create innovative solutions that demonstrate a keen understanding of the material’s practical, aesthetic, and sustainable benefits. Projects also must feature a significant amount of Italian ceramic or porcelain tile produced by at least one Ceramics of Italy member company, be designed by North American-based architects and designers, and be completed between January 2018 and January 2023. All styles and scales of projects - both domestic or international - will be considered, including, but not limited to: office buildings; spas; restaurants; stores and malls; hotels; schools or universities; apartment complexes and multi-unit housing developments; private residences; government or civic buildings; healthcare facilities; and more.

An international panel of design experts will select winners based on their creativity, functionality, sustainability and aesthetic appeal, along with the amount of tile used from Ceramics of Italy member companies. Built project winners will receive a 5-day CEU trip to Bologna, Italy to attend Cersaie: The world’s largest exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings, alongside a delegation of top design media. Additionally, all category winners will receive an expense-paid trip to Coverings 2023 in Orlando, FL - the largest international tile and stone exhibition in North America - where they will attend the show and present their projects in front of a large audience of design and trade media, manufacturers, and tile industry professionals during the Ceramics of Italy Press Conference.

The competition guidelines, submission form, and an archive of beautiful winning projects from the past 30 years can be found on the Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition website, www.tilecompetition.com.

There is no fee to enter, and multiple submissions are accepted. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity! Click here to participate.
