Architectural Photography Awards: Take a look at the 2022 finalists

The Architectural Photography Awards have announced its 2022 shortlist for the 10th edition of the prestigious annual competition, which is held every year as part of the World Architecture Festival (WAF).

Entries from 64 different countries were judged by a panel that included The Guardian contributor Kunle Baker, ZHA Principal Patrik Schumacher, architect Farshid Moussavi, and last year’s winner Liu Xinghao, among others.

The shortlisted candidates were then divided into groups across six separate categories. A set of two winners will then be selected in three categories of Overall, Portfolio, and Mobile, with cash prizes totaling $2,000, $750, and $150 in that order given to the jury’s winners, and another $1,000, $250, and $100 awarded to selections made by WAF delegates behind them.

“Now that 'everyone's a photographer,' the importance of good architectural photography has increased because of the myriad images that potential clients encounter every day,” the WAF’s Director Paul Finch said in a statement. “The APA program is an annual reminder of how architectural photography can enhance our understanding of design, rather than merely recording what is there.”

The winners will be announced as the festival concludes in Lisbon on December 2nd.
