2019 Modernism in America Awards

Now in its sixth year, the Modernism in America Prize Awards is accepting nominations through February 15! The Awards recognize those building owners, design teams, advocacy and preservation organizations that have made significant efforts to retain, restore and advocate for the aesthetic and cultural value of such places.

Serpentine Augmented Architecture
Register/Submit Deadline: Monday, Feb 25, 2019
Applicants are invited to propose imaginary city spaces and speculations on the built environment to be developed and experienced in augmented reality (AR) on site at the Serpentine Galleries in Summer 2019. We encourage applications from individuals, studios and collectives from across a range of fields and skills at any career stage.

Big Ideas for Small Lots NYC
Register/Submit Deadline: Sunday, Mar 24, 2019
Big Ideas for Small Lots NYC is a two-stage design competition for small-scale, urban infill housing. The competition is organized by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and the American Institute of Architects New York (AIANY), and seeks to address the challenges associated with the design and construction of affordable housing on underutilized City-owned land.

Spring Pavilion Amsterdam
Register/Submit Deadline: Friday, May 31, 2019
The objective of this competition is to create a multi-usage pavilion in Amsterdam's emblematic Vondelpark that can connect people, nature and architecture. The pavilion should capture the essence of spring and be able to host different activities and activate the zone.
