MAKE WALLS TALK! VIDEOMAPPING, FACADE PROJECTION AND MEDIA ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION - 48 THOUSAND EURO - 14 TH OF FEBRUARY – 18 TH OF MARCH - 30 SECONDS VIDEO GENIUS LOCI WEIMAR IS LOOKING FOR INNOVATIVE IDEAS FOR THE FACADE PROJECTION FESTIVAL ON 10TH TO 12TH AUGUST 2018. Applicants have until the 18th of March to apply with a 30 sec video clip outlining the central design concept for the projection of one of the following locations: Goethehaus, Haus Frau von Stein and the Bauhaus-University Library.

For the first time, the competition will address not only video mapping performance art but also the emerging topic of media architecture installations in historical context.

The three winning artists will be awarded prize money totaling € 48,000 for the realisation of a 10–15 min high-resolution audio-visual production, to be presented during the festival as a video mapping on the respective facade, using the newest Christie projectors, provided by publitec. THE MOST IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GENIUS LOCI WEIMAR COMPETITION ARE: • Innovative design in the form of an audio-visual video mapping, with particular observance paid to the Genius Loci. • Individual, original and sophisticated handling of the spirit of the location with respect to the history and architecture etc. • The deliberate omission of erratic gimmickry & showmanship, intrusive clichés, and careless historical retelling. • Moreover, to enable all participants to create the best possible results, we are offering all registered participants a full license for the MXWendler Stage Designer video mapping software.
