Industry Insights is a university student talks series encouraging knowledge sharing and networking. This event will explore designing for a better tomorrow with professional designers. This talk will include interactive talks from a range of practising designers including nominees from the exhibition. They will share insight into their professional practice through the theme designing for a better tomorrow. Now in its 10th year, the Beazley Designer of the Year exhibition brings together over 60 global projects across six categories: Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Graphics, Product and Transport, each project has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to design.
Student/teachers: £10 (ticket also covers entry into the exhibition).
Speakers:
Alex Newson Since joining the Design Museum in 2009, Alex has curated numerous temporary exhibitions including: Designs of the Year, Designed to Win & The Future is Here. Most recently he has led the curatorial team that developed Designer Maker User, the Design Museum’s permanent gallery.
Seetal Solanki Seetal Solanki is the Founder and Director of research design studio Ma-tt-er. Having worked with a wide variety of sectors including architecture, interiors, food, fashion, editorial and events she saw the potential to create a space where materials and their makers could be represented together.
Chrissy Levett Chrissy Levett - Founder & Creative Director of Creative Conscience, a global organisation that encourages and rewards creative thinking with purpose. She has won a number of industry awards for branding, is a TEDx speaker and believes that design & creative thinking should be used to solve global challenges and as a form of positive activism.
Nathan and Sam Smith Nathan Smith and Sam T Smith are both designers who work across numerous disciplines ranging from brand identities to campaigns, websites, books, spaces & objects. Both have been recognised by organisations such as D&AD, Beazley Designs of the Year, The Guardian, It’s Nice That and Creative Review.
