Pixel Hut is a visual and interactive shelter that challenges the identity and function of the primitive hut. Originally suspended between trees in leafy East Sussex, Pixel Hut has since inhabited a gallery space as a backdrop for a feast, and is now a shelter within an open park. Each time Pixel HUT’s location and context changes, whether within a rural or urban environment, so it is adapted. The primitive hut has been deconstructed into its universal elements, in order to reconstruct a modern, lightweight, illuminated environment that reflects a need for shelter and our growing cultural obsession with digital technology. A pixelated canopy stretches over the heads of pedestrians providing light, shade and a shared space for its users. The Pixel Hut will be suspended in Marlborough park in South East London for an entire months during LFA Festival. Pixel HUT is a collaboration between HUT Architecture and Universal Assembly Unit.
