In October 2008, Bustler reported on New York-based practice Weiss/Manfredi winning the international master plan competition for The Taekwondo Park in Muju, Korea. As Austin Tragni of Weiss/Manfredi told Bustler today, this subsequent work has been completed in early 2009.
After the first part of this year, the client then created a ‘turn-key’ design-build competition, due to the size and scope of the project, where several construction consortiums and their design team consultants each participated (Bustler previously reported that Samoo Architecture PC were part of the Samsung C&T Group who were successful in winning the project to complete design/construction drawings and build). The Weiss/Manfredi approved master plan provides the guidelines and framework direction for the architectural, engineering and landscape development. “Each of the submissions for this most recent phase was required to conform with guidelines for landscape and building with a minimal allowable deviation from the master plan”, says Tragni.
