Was Architecture always a slave?

Was the Architect always a simple tool in the hands of Power?

To what extent architecture can defy?

To what extent it SHOULD defy?

Could the architect (through his/her work) ever have Goya’s expression when depicting the rich and the powerful?

Could the architect ever say, like Zola, a simple but firm “J’accuse?”

Could the architect ever whisper, like Ibsen on his deathbed, a short but challenging “au contraire”?

We ask you to explore as honestly, as courageously and as intensely as possible the theme of Architecture & Dissent.

Please send us any work, in any size and in any format that represents your heartfelt “J’accuse” and your defying “au contraire”!

Let’s make this festival a festival of truth, the architect’s truth, defying thus all his/her frustrations, so well and painfully known!

This event is organized in conjunction with other cultural activities that take place this year in Sibiu, chosen, together with Luxembourg, The Cultural Capital of Europe, 2007.

All the works submitted for this event will be published in a book, under the title: Insurgent Architecture.
