The ODA wishes to procure the design of one of the Olympic Park footbridges, through a Design Contest. The bridge is located on the central pedestrian concourse running North to South through the Olympic Park and is in close proximity of the Olympic Stadium. The ODA is committed to the delivery of design quality and is seeking submissions from Applicants that can demonstrate a high level of creativity and design quality. Submissions from both established and emerging design practices are encouraged. Design The bridge will span approximately 26m over Carpenters Lock on the River Lea Waterway and is to be constructed in two permanent separate spans for Legacy with a temporary bridge constructed between the two permanent spans to provide a bridge width of approximately 50m. It is envisaged that the temporary span will be removed after the Games. The design of the bridge must be in keeping with the overall design language established for the Park. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to develop design proposals for the contest showing the permanent and temporary bridges and the immediate surrounding landscape.
Scope of Design Team Services
It is envisaged that the winner of the competition will be appointed to deliver the following scope of services:
1. Develop their concept design proposals through to detailed design.
2. Support the design approval process with the ODA and Stakeholders
3. Assist in evaluating tenders from constructors for the Works
4. Review contractors design proposals
5. Site supervision Applicants should follow the instructions for registering and submitting a PQQ detailed in the ‘Additional Notes’ opposite.
