Nominations (including self-nominations) are invited for the 2009 Harleston Parker Medal, which is presented to “such architects as shall have, in the opinion of the Boston Society of Architects. . . completed the erection for any private citizen, association, corporation, or public authority, the most beautiful piece of architecture, building, monument or structure within the limits of the City of Boston or of the Metropolitan Parks District†(Arlington, Belmont, Boston, Braintree, Brookline, Cambridge, Canton, Chelsea, Dedham, Dover, Everett, Hingham, Hull, Lynn, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Milton, Nahant,
Needham, Newton, Quincy, Revere, Saugus, Somerville, Stoneham, Swampscott, Wakefi eld, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley, Weston, Weymouth, Winchester, Winthrop and Woburn).
To be eligible, a project:
- may be of any scale, program, or level of public visibility;
- must have been completed between December 31, 1998 and December 31, 2008;
- must not have previously received this award;
- may be a rehabilitated building or structure;
- may not be a work done by any 2009 Harleston Parker Jury architect-member or architect-member’s firm.
Please offer your suggestions of projects the jury should consider by mailing the project name/street address/town and, if known, the architect’s name to Nancy Jenner at [email protected] or Boston Society of Architects, 52 Broad Street, Boston 02109 by February 24, 2009. You may nominate your own or any other work you believe merits consideration. Th is is an opportunity to honor distinguished work.
