The Fondation d’entreprise Hermès has a vocation to support projects steered by individuals or organisations in the field of the arts, culture, social solidarity and humanitarian aid. This project-based approach implies forward thinking, and careful planning for the future. For this reason, the second Prix Émile Hermès focuses on two of the Foundation’s core activities: support for creative art, and the preservation of the environment. The award sets a specific challenge for young designers eager to innovate and think for the future.
The Fondation d’entreprise Hermès also showcases skills and expertise: entries for the award must demonstrate a meticulous, rigorous approach to the management of the prototype phase of their project, and its means of production and distribution.
Each entry will be examined from two perspectives: the innovative quality of the object, both functionally and formally, and an ecologically responsible approach to its production and distribution.
The Prix Émile Hermès is an international award: because approaches to the "meaning of the object" are as diverse as world cultures, and because the variety of entries received from around the world will nourish the thinking of all concerned.
The prize money received by each of the three finalists of the Prix Émile Hermès is aimed at enabling them to embark on significant new phases in their professional careers.
