After the 2005 FAR8 competition on urban density, FAR Architecture Center
Shanghai now holds its second competition, the SINOCITIES AWARDS 2007, an
International Architecture Design Competition on New Public Space.
This OPEN IDEA COMPETITION without realization objective will run from
April to August 2007. Designers and students from all over the world can
freely choose a site on the map of Sinocity, a fictional growing city in
the heart of China, and apply their innovative designs. All interested
architects and related professionals such as urban planners, landscape
architects as well as students of architecture, urban planning and related
fields may enter.
A jury of architects and planners will choose the award winners. The
competition will end with an EXHIBITION IN SHANGHAI in August 2007. The
winners will receive 35,000 RMB (EUR 3,500) AWARDS in total and the award
winner will be invited to Shanghai to the Award Ceremony.
The INTERNATIONAL JURY consists of professionals from different fields:
James Brearley (BAU International), Xiaocun Zhu (Tongji University), Paul
Chen (HPA Haipo Architects), Defne Ayas (New York University), Su Yunsheng
(Urban China Magazine).
The SUBMISSION DEADLINE is July 5, 2007.
The EXHIBITION will start on August 5, 2007 in Shanghai.
