Volumetric Planning of the Patarei and Lennusadam Port Area

State Real Estate Ltd. in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Culture and the Union of Estonian Architects has announced a design contest for volumetric planning of the Patarei and the Lennusadam Port area.
The area dealt at the design contest is situated on the Tallinn coastal area, on the territory and in the surroundings of the Patarei Sea Fortress and the water craft hangars. Contest area is made up of plots: Küti 17; Küti 15a; Kalaranna 2 and Kalaranna 2a. Possible new building development area planned with the design contest is 4,0 ha; total contest area approximately 14 ha and functionally connected study area approximately 50 ha.
The interest of the Ministry of Justice is to build on the Küti 17 plot a judicial building and new buildings supporting it. The interest of the Ministry of Culture is to create on the Küti 15a registered immovable and Küti 17 plot the Estonian Maritime Museum complex. State Real Estate Ltd. is interested to develop a function of use of the Patarei defence barrack situated on Kalaranna 2 and Kalaranna 2a registered immovable.
The design contest is anonymous, consists of 1 stage and is a public architectural conceptual design contest for the expanded solution scheme of detailed plan. The purpose of organizing the design contest is to get the best planned and volumetric solution for the contest area that deals with the ground, location of functions and building development solution. As a result of the design contest, a conceptual design will be found (contest work) that will serve as a basis for further planning of the area and buildings.
