Richard Gluckman on Content + Context = Concept For more details and to RSVP, go to: http://cfa.aiany.org/index.php?section=calendar&evtid=2618 In 2006, the AIANY Cultural Facilities Committee (a volunteer group of professionals) created an event to honor the work and memory of their founding Committee chair, Arthur Rosenblatt. Among his many accomplishments Arthur was the Vice President for Architecture at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 19 years during its period of great expansion, the founding Director of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, as well as a highly regarded Museum design consultant. He was an enthusiastic promoter of the architectural profession through his long involvement with the AIA, a generous friend to countless colleagues, and passionate about the role of art in our everyday lives. The Committee has developed an annual lecture focusing on museum design to honor Arthur’s legacy. We have had three lectures to date: Richard Meier in 2007, Todd Williams/Billie Tsien in 2008, and Dr. Vishakha N. Desai, president of the Asia Society, in 2009. The 4th annual Rosenblatt lecture features Richard Gluckman, FAIA who will discuss the changing parameters of exhibition spaces, in particular, the relationship between the space of production and the space of presentation. Examples include: Museo Picasso Malaga, Perelman Building Philadelphia Museum of Art, San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, and two projects on the boards, Zhejiang University Museum of Art and Archeology, Hangzhou, China and the Qibao Cultural Museum, Minhang District of Shanghai. Richard Gluckman is a of principal of Gluckman Mayner Architects in New York City, which is the successor firm to Richard Gluckman Architects founded in 1977. A major component of the firm’s practice has been the design of art-related spaces, and much of the firm’s work has grown out of an exchange with artists, curators, and museum directors. In addition to his international practice Mr. Gluckman has sat on numerous academic and professional juries and has served as a Peer Reviewer for the GSA. Organized by the AIANY Cultural Facilities Committee. Free for Members; $10 for Non-Members
