Large construction projects in urban areas play a significant role in developing social spaces which help to compose the cityscape. With advancements in engineering technology and creative design today, large-scale public facilities and buildings are being constructed at at a breathtaking rate. Such large-scale projects are often handled by major construction companies with specialized teams. While individual architects are often featured in exhibitions, not so much attention is paid to such companies. This exhibition attempts to shed light on the projects and achievements of Japanese construction corporations within the realm of urban architecture. Issues and key ideas brought into urban redevelopment include considerations regarding the environment and cityscape, relations to local neighborhoods, the preservation of history and tradition, the revitalization of the city, and many more. This exhibition features major projects by 15 companies and introduces their ideas and perspectives on such issues. Museum of Modern Art Saitama
