The Water Tribune Pavilion holds the first Expo themed week, “Water and Land”. Nine themed weeks will take place over the 93 days of Expo in which scientists and experts will reflect and discuss on water-related issues from different perspectives.
In addition to the themed weeks, the Water Tribune has organised a full programme of events. Among other activities, Agora stands out as a space for reflection open to the public in which writers, artists, communicators and thinkers will take part. It will also make the Water Words collection available. This is a series of 17 books written by eminent global figures of the likes of Mikhail Gorbachev, Rigoberta Menchú, Javier Solana and Federico Mayor Zaragoza.
The Water Tribune - the platform for technical, scientific and social debate on water and sustainable development - is the feature that sets Expo Zaragoza 2008 apart from earlier Expos, and serves as a complement to the pavilions and shows.
This platform for reflection and debate will involve 32,000 participants; 280 hours of lectures and debates; 2,000 experts from every continent; 52 hours of videoconferences with Asia, Africa and Latin America; 221 guest lecturers from 47 countries; 9 central documents for conclusions and proposals; and 186 hours of audiovisual programming.
The Water Tribune is the intellectual instrument that brings context and transcendence to the theme of this Expo, “Water and Sustainable Development”, and which will become the quintessential authority on this matter.
