A hat is a head ornament. It is a construct and comes in many shapes and sizes. Hats may be indicators of social status, they may be used as protection against the elements, religious identity or as fashion statements, much like architecture. What would a London hat look like? Architecture design platform, you&me;, in conjunction with architect-turned-milliner Gabriela Ligenza have invited artists and architects to submit hats inspired by London. Hat-itecture is a pop-up exhibition, a playful shop-front display of architecture, accessible to all passing by. The exhibition is part of the London Festival of Architecture and will run for two weeks in the Gabriela Ligenza flagship store. About you&me;: you&me; is a London-based multi-disciplinary design platform, set up in 2009 by architects Alicja Borkowska and Iris Papadatou. you&me; advocates collaboration and use playful, challenging and inclusive methodologies to promote architecture. www.youandmearchitecture.com About Gabriela Ligenza: Gabriela Ligenza, architect-turned-milliner, has designed for fashion houses including Missoni, John Galliano, Paul Smith, Jasper Conran and Ferragamo.
