Lecture Title: ...oh so pretty March 11, 2011 06:30 PM A+A Auditorium (Rm 2104) Art + Architecture Building Forencia Pita is currently design faculty at SCI-Arc teaching in the undergraduate and graduate design studios, a Visual Studies instructor of advanced software, and part of the Visiting Faculty at Lund University, Sweden. Pita works as an architect in Los Angeles, and has been engaged in practice, teaching and research of architecture. She graduated in 1998 from the National University of Rosario, School of Architecture, degree: Licensed Architect. She was awarded the 2000 Fulbright-Fondo Nacional de las Artes Scholarship to pursue studies at Columbia University and in 2001 she received her master’s degree from Columbia University, AAD Program. Pita received the first prize in the 2001 Metro Design Plaza International Competition, Lexington-Kentucky and has been recipient of the Graham Foundation Grand Award. Her work has been published in Log, Architecture Record, A+U, and Surface Magazine. She is the co-editor of Log 17. She has been part of solo exhibitions at SCI-arc Gallery and LAxART gallery and group exhibitions at the Chicago Art Institute, the 2007-08 Shenzhen-Hong Kong Biennial of Urbanism and Architecture in China, and Artist Space in New York. Her work is also part of the permane nt collection of the MAK Museum in Vienna. Pita’s work experience includes the offices of Greg Lynn FORM (where she participated in the World Trade Center Design Competition as part of United Architects), Eisenman Architects and Asymptote. Her firm, mod, is a collaborative practice that thrives on the mannerist use of digital technology. As new modes of design and production become more involved with new technologies, the firm focuses on the underlying mechanisms of overlaying forms.
