For the State of Design Festival ARKit constructs a full-scale prefabricated house – the EcoStudio. The house will be approximately 50m2 and will have a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living space and an adaptable service hub dependant on its location. Throughout the Festival period the EcoStudio will host a number of events , installations and activities. Launching the program is the habitation phase where two people will live and work from the EcoStudio. Visit the occupants at the Studio or follow the blog to keep learn about their experience living on site. Other events are to include a house party, book launch, professional work shops, public seminars and artist workshops. The EcoStudio is built using the sustainable prefabricated ARKit system. The EcoStudio has been constructed as a high quality building and an exemplar of sustainable design. The EcoStudio will feature cutting edge environmental design features including a green roof, optimum environmental performance, water-saving technologies, full life cycle analysis. The use of sustainable materials such as Western Red Cedar and Hoop Pine make for a beautiful and natural aesthetic that sits harmoniously within the environment. The ARKit wall panel system provides built-in insulation to thermally protect the interior environment while also providing structural stability to ensure a durable building. Presented by ARKit ARKit is created and owned by Craig Chatman, an architect based in Melbourne. The event will be run with support from our many partners including GHD, University of Melbourne. RMIT University, Structural Works, The Projects, Kingspan, Laser Electrical, Earp Brothers, The Narrows, and Michael Ebbels Design. http://www.stateofdesign.com.au/Public-Events/Free-Events/off-grid-on-grid
