The lecture is presented by the The Architecture/Landscape/Interiors Department at Otis College of Art and Design on Thursday, February 24, 7:30 pm, at MOCA’s Ahmanson Auditorium. Jürgen Mayer H. is the founder and principal of J. MAYER H. Architects, Berlin (http://www.jmayerh.de). He has said “From urban planning schemes and buildings to installations and objects with new materials, the relationship between the human body, technology and nature form the background for a new production of space.” Jürgen studied at Stuttgart University, The Cooper Union and Princeton University. National and international awards include the Mies-van-der-Rohe-Award Emerging-Architect Special-Mention 2003, Holcim Award Bronze 2005 and the Audi Urban Future Award 2010. J. MAYER H. Architects’ cross-disciplinary studio focuses on works at the intersection of architecture, communication and new technology. Recent projects include a student centre at Karlsruhe University; the villa Dupli.Casa near Ludwigsburg, Germany; and the redevelopment of the Plaza de la Encarnacion in Sevilla, Spain.
