Prophets & Penitents: Confessions of a Chair

DAMn° magazine presents Prophets & Penitents: Confessions of a Chair, a celebration of chair prototyping to suit the times in Milan’s oldest church. Featuring many previously unseen works by established & emerging designers including Arik Levy, Maarten Baas, Konstantin Grcic, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Michael Young, 5.5 Designers, Peter Marigold, Patricia Urquiola, BarberOsgerby, Jerszy Seymour, Studio Makkink & Bey, Bruno Munari, Ineke Hans, Martí Guixé, Dejano Kabiljo and François Azambourg ao, the exhibition reveals the invisible detours on the road to realisation. With questions of emotion, economy and relevancy, the event offers a view on the entire spectrum of the prototype, from first experiments in the design process of mass-production to one-off sculptures fated to stay in the prototype stage forever. It is a collection of imperfect/perfect moments, where against all the clichés of digital 3D moulding, prototyping still continues to be regularly performed.
