The 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are just around the corner. In light of the upcoming Games, competition organizer archasm launched the “Rio Olympics: Sustainable Fanbox” ideas competition. Architects, designers, engineers, artists, and students worldwide are all invited to compete!
As its name indicates, participants will have to design a “Sustainable Fanbox”, a new typological structure that will serve as a main gathering and interaction zone for Olympic spectators. The competition seeks to recreate the atmosphere of a stadium in a freestanding and temporary structure where fans can connect with the Olympic Games virtually and therefore further enrich their experience. Submissions should also clearly emphasize an innovative approach to sustainable design.
Sign up now! The Early Registration period is open now until July 31. Final submission deadline is August 31. Three prize-winners will be announced in September.
