Call for Papers // Responsive Cities 2021 Design with Nature

Do you design with nature? Or are you interested in nature-based solutions and living systems? Then, don’t miss the opportunity to be part of the Responsive Cities Symposium: Design with Nature. You still have time to submit your extended abstract for the call for papers. 

The Responsive Cities Symposium 2021 edition focuses on “Design with Nature”, within the framework of the Building Urban Intelligent Living Design Solutions (BUILDs) project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and coordinated by the Advanced Architecture Group of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC).

The Symposium will take place in Barcelona from 11th-12th November 2021, and will explore topics related to the implementation of Living Systems and Nature-based Solutions as a strategy to deal with urban challenges, as well as their integration with technologies to enhance the provision of Ecosystem Services. 

The Call:

If you are a researcher or practitioner in this field, you are invited to submit novel and high quality papers on the following topics:

DESIGN – bio-design | environmental feedback | collective intelligence
BUILD – reintegrating nature | digital fabrication | new bio-inspired planning paradigms
ADAPT – nature-based solutions | biotechnology | black ecologies
PERFORM – living systems | increased liveability | ecosystem services
SHARE – participatory design  | novel virtual environments for co-design | symbiosis
LEARN – new educational models | applied research | making

Key Dates: 

• 30th September 2021: Submission of the Extended Abstract
• 8th October 2021: Selected Extended Abstracts Announced
• 31st October 2021: Submission of the Paper
• 11th-12th November 2021: Responsive Cities Symposium

Selected Entries:

Successful participants will be notified 8th October and will be asked to submit the full paper by the 31st October 2021. All contributions will be collected in a digital publication with an ISBN code and you will have the opportunity to present your work at the Symposium.

Fees: 

Details on the payment method will be given to all selected authors. The fee also includes the participation in the social dinner for one person.
Senior 350,00 € / Junior 200,00 € (VAT included)
Note: over 40 are considered Senior
