The World Around is proud to announce a new initiative that strives to mobilize the global design and architecture industry and enable positive change at a meaningful scale. The inaugural Young Climate Prize is an open invitation for young people under the age of 25 anywhere in the world to share their work and activism. At a time when the future offers few glimmers of hope, we want to invest in the generation born into this ecological crisis, support and highlight their creativity, talent and passion, and meaningfully connect them to a wide and expansive network of practitioners who can champion their projects, careers and futures.
After an open call for nominations and submissions, the prize will connect a cohort of 25 talented young visionaries with Design Champions in a bespoke academy based on their projects, skills and interests. The Champions – The World Around's community of internationally renowned designers and thinkers – will generously volunteer their time to provide mentorship to this group of young climate leaders. Finalists will be invited to take part in The World Around’s annual summit, and winners will be announced on Earth Day 2023. The Young Climate Prize is made possible by Meta Open Arts and The World Around's generous patrons.
The World Around invites our community to kick-start this process! We’re looking for young climate thinkers, designers, coders or leaders between 13 and 25 years old who have created unique, radical and brilliant projects to help mitigate climate change in their communities. Please share your nominations for talented and inspiring individuals or small groups to be part of this inaugural cohort. We also welcome and encourage self nominations.
