VOLCANIC VISITOR CENTRE ICELAND

We are looking for a unique, dynamic piece of architecture that provides a visitor centre, information point, café and thermal pool located within the black beach of Reynisfjara, in the southern coast of Iceland. 

Retreat for the Blind competition, and the designs can be joint via the Competition Bundle.

For those who experience vision loss, it can be easy to retreat from the world, to stay indoors and avoid unpredictable surroundings. This is an opportunity to explore your creativity and challenge your design skills to conceive an architectural marvel that will provide a safe, pleasant and stimulating experience through architecture with a sensory journey throughout. The proposal will connect people experiencing vision loss to the dramatic surroundings of the black beaches of Iceland.

Our Visitor centre and Retreat for the Blind ask for a unique, dynamic piece of architecture that provides a tactile and sensory journey for those who are visually impaired.
