The Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports of the Republic of Kosovo invites international planning design firms and consortiums to participate in the competition for the development of the master plan for the "Adem Jashari" Memorial Complex in Prekaz, Municipality of Skenderaj, in the Republic of Kosovo.

This Memorial Complex is the most significant site of memory in Kosovo. Adem Jashari, was one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army and its leader, who entered the popular narratives as the Legendary Commander. He was killed at home, with his family and comrades – 59 persons men, women, and children while resisting the 3-day long siege.

The design approach of the Master Plan of “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex should be coherent concept of spatial organization with the urban rehabilitation and should include conservation and interpretation of buildings, items, events, and people memories.

This multidisciplinary international competition, which is open to professional entities, aims to provide the comprehensive design that should memorialize the Kosovo resistance, national identity-building histories, and valiant acts as agents of sustainable future building and social resilience construction.

The project perspective for the Adem Jashari Memorial Complex consists of 5 zones, of which 3 are character-building zones and 2 additional zones that together make up the overall picture of the associative cultural landscape.

The site's importance in Kosovo's memorialization and communal perception requires holistic, inclusive design. Designers should integrate skills from multiple disciplines to stabilize and conserve ruins, rehabilitate houses, interpret geography, mitigate impact of informal constructions, and integrate documentary value in architectural and exhibition design.

COMPETITION DELIVERABLES

PRODUCT 1: PROJECT TECHNICAL REPORT

The ‘project technical report’ shall provide an outline of the development proposal for the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex . The ‘project technical report’ should offer a brief description utilizing text, illustrations and diagrams, of the key aspects of the development process of the master plan and respective technical documentation

PRODUCT 2: EXHIBITION PANELS

The exhibition panel shall provide a comprehensive representation of the development proposal for the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex, fully aligned with the ‘project technical report’. The presentation of the development proposal shall be organized in six (6) exhibition panels utilizing brief text, diagrams, maps and respective legends, sections, 2D and 3D graphical illustrations at the urban scale and built units including interior and exterior views, rendered images, pictures, etc., using the metric system.

PRODUCT 3: VIDEO ANIMATION

The video animation shall present the overall context as defined by the ‘Technical Appendix’, with a focus on the illustration projects. The textual should be in English and Albanian, if applicable.
