A singing geometry.

The Geometry of Art and Life, to use the title of a book by Matila Ghyka.

This year there are 400 years since his birth.

But he is our contemporary.

And we ask you to imagine A HOUSE FOR THIS CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECT who was born 400 years ago, or who will be born 400 years from now ?

BOTH.

GUARINO GUARINI.

He made of Turin what Palladio made of Vicenza.

His own city.

What would Turin be without the baroque architecture of Guarino ?

Less, although other important architects built there.

Let’s think for a second of Carlo Molino. And let’s imagine this brilliant Torinese architect would imagine a House for Guarino Guarini.

Why not ?

On the spiral of time, it is not only possible, but necessary.

But… Guarino was a monk, while the erotic photographs of Carlo Molino would incite even stone.

Was Guarino Guarini sensual too ? Maybe a sensuous monk ?

He didn’t have 18 children like Bach, but Guarino does have something in common with Bach: the musical geometry, the most musical rigor.

L’esprit de geometry & l’esprit de finesse as Boileau would say.

We ask you to design A HOUSE FOR GUARINO GUARINI.

A house that crosses boundaries, a non European European house.

An Islamic house for Christianity. A Christian house for Islam.

Melting down the divisions of the Abrahamic religion.

And bringing in, perhaps, even other forms of spirituality.

Asia too… GUARINO GUARINI – a true Gagarin of Architecture.
