Design a digital 3D model of underwater sculpture to be submerged in the Mediterranean sea

Register/Submit Deadline:  Monday, Sep 30, 202412 AMCEST

About the project

We want to celebrate cetaceans in the Mediterranean, especially within the Pelagos Sanctuary, a protected area between France, Italy, and Monaco. Home to many marine species, including Fin and Sperm whales, this region's cetaceans face threats from human activities.

Our project merges marine conservation with art by installing a submerged sculpture off the coast of France, creating a free, publicly accessible underwater art exhibit. This immersive experience allows visitors to appreciate the beauty of marine life, learn about the challenges cetaceans face, and discover ways to contribute to their protection.

Objectives

  • Showcase the beauty and vulnerability of Mediterranean cetaceans
  • Foster appreciation for marine life
  • Raise awareness of the risks cetaceans face.

Design the sculpture in digital 3D format!

Design brief

Target audience

Visitors to the beach (including children), swimmers, snorkelers. The priority should therefore be how the sculpture looks from above looking down.

Location

Le Pradet, France.

Water depth

4-6 metres.

Sculpture dimensions

Max occupied space should be 5x20 metres. Maximum 2 metre height.

Safety

Avoid sharp edges or small gaps where humans or marine animals could get caught.

Animation/video
