EXHIBITOR Magazine’s Expo 2010 Awards

Register/Submit Deadline:  Tuesday, Aug 10, 20106:37 AMEDT

For nearly 25 years, EXHIBITOR has brought you the world’s most prestigious exhibit-design competition, honoring the crème de la crème of trade show exhibits. Expanding on the success of that program, EXHIBITOR announces its Expo 2010 Awards competition, honoring the most impressive work from the 2010 World’s Expo in Shanghai, China. With categories ranging from Best Pavilion and Best Exterior Design to Best Exhibit and Best Use of Technology, the competition will be judged by a panel of multidisciplinary design, marketing, and communications experts who will ultimately choose which entries represent the best the world (well, the World’s Expo, at least) has to offer. Enter your Expo 2010 project into this unique competition, and you’ll receive a chance to be named among the world’s best — oh, and you’ll win a custom-designed, Expo-inspired trophy, editorial coverage, and serious bragging rights!

The final deadline for entry is August 9, so act fast!

Overview:
From jaw-dropping design to wow-inducing technological wizardry, the 2010 World’s Expo in Shanghai, China, is brimming with inspiration for exhibit and event professionals. EXHIBITOR Magazine’s Expo 2010 Awards competition seeks to honor the most impressive work Expo 2010 has to offer.

Eligibility:
Entries must be pavilions, exhibits, or elements of pavilions and exhibits appearing at Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

Categories:
• Best Pavilion:  All pavilions that are part of Expo 2010 in Shanghai are eligible to enter this category, including corporate pavilions, country pavilions, theme pavilions, etc. Judges will consider all elements of the pavilion, from exterior design to interior design to the overall attendee experience (including any activities, presentations, etc.). All entries in the Best Pavilion category are automatically eligible for the People’s Choice award, which will be determined via online vote.

• Best Exterior Design: All pavilions that are part of Expo 2010 in Shanghai are eligible to enter this category, including corporate pavilions, country pavilions, theme pavilions, etc. Judges will consider only the entry’s exterior design, along with information regarding the inspiration behind the design.

• Best Exhibit: Entries must be individual corporate or cultural exhibits within pavilions. Judges will consider the design of the exhibit, as well as any activities, presentations, etc.

• Best Use of Technology:  This category is open to any application of technology within a pavilion or an exhibit. Entries may include anything from immersive large-scale projection to augmented-reality applications to 2-D bar codes to robotics and more. Judges will look for innovation, evaluating entries based on the uniqueness of the application, and how the technology enhances the attendee experience.

• Best Activity/Interactive: This category is open to any activity or interactive experience within a pavilion or an exhibit. Entries may include hands-on or virtual experiences where attendees interact with a staffer, a kiosk, a touchscreen, or any other element within the pavilion or exhibit. An interactive that employs technology is eligible for entry in both Best Activity/Interactive and Best Use of Technology categories.

• Best Presentation: Entries may include live, multimedia, or pre-recorded video presentations within an exhibit or pavilion. Judges may consider everything from the effectiveness of the presentation medium to the impact of key messaging to the memorability of the presentation as a whole (including the design of the presentation space, if applicable). All entries in this category must include video footage with their entry materials.

• Elements and Details: Entries may include any innovative elements or materials that are part of a larger exhibit or pavilion. Examples may include a stairway, lounge, reception desk, product display, light fixture, seating ensemble, presentation stage, entranceway, kiosk, conference room, flooring, ceiling, wall, etc. Innovative materials could include anything from sod to recycled bowling balls to tree bark. Judges will consider the aesthetics, appropriateness, and overall impact of each entry. Each element/material is considered a separate entry.

• People’s Choice: All entries in the Best Pavilion category are automatically eligible for the People’s Choice award, which will be determined via online vote. No additional fees or entry forms are required.
