Candide. Journal for Architectural Knowledge is a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year in English and German by the Department of Architecture Theory at RWTH Aachen University (Axel Sowa, Susanne Schindler, eds.) and Transcript Verlag, Bielefeld. Intent on fostering multiple ways to write about the discipline, Candide is dedicated to the culture of knowledge specific to architecture.
Candide does not publish thematic issues; rather, its five sections – Essay, Analysis, Project, Encounters and Fiction – seek to challenge academics, practitioners and writers of all disciplines to speculate on the nature of architectural knowledge.
In particular, the editors are actively seeking submissions for the sections Project – a forum for those who consider design to be a theoretical endeavor –, and Fiction – a space to test the limits of knowledge and the forms of its representation.
Candide welcomes submissions of previously unpublished material in either English or German at any time.
To be considered for publication in Issue 04 / April 2011, please send submissions to candide [at] theorie.arch.rwth-aachen.de by October 15, 2010.
