Alpha Rho Chi Voussoirs Award

In order for an arch to stand on its own, each voussoir, or element of an arch, must hold its equal share of the load, working directly with the other components in complete unison. Similarly, each collaborator within a design project must work in close association with the rest of the team in order to create a truly successful product. The Voussoirs Award acknowledges those completed projects (built and unbuilt) whose product was the result of exceptional collaboration between design consultants, builders, clients and the community.

Eligibility
Each nomination must come from a firm or person who, at the time of submission, employs at least one member in good standing of Alpha Rho Chi as a full-time staff person, part-time staff person, contract employee, co-op student or intern. The member of Alpha Rho Chi must be up-to-date on his or her national dues at the time of submission in order to be considered in good standing (Alumni can pay dues online here.). All members (active, non-graduate, alumni, honorary, faculty) are eligible to participate.

Eligible projects are not limited in scope and can range from manufactured products to large scale master plans and beyond. Entries must effectively convey both the collaborative process and the successful final product. Each project nominated must display collaboration between the entrant and at least two other parties including but not limited to:
* Design Professionals
* Construction Professionals
* Manufacturers
* Clients/Owners
* Community Organizations
* Government Agencies

Submission Requirements
* A cover letter to include the name and location and brief description of the nominating firm or individual, names, locations and brief descriptions of the entities who collaborated on the project, the name and chapter affiliation of the Alpha Rho Chi member employed by the nominating firm or individual and a statement verifying that all images and text submitted for this award are original material or have been reproduced with the express consent of their owner.
* Two display panels, measuring 24 inches by 36 inches each, submitted in portable digital format (pdf).
* A written narrative (up to 500 words) describing the scope and location of the project, collaborative process, roles of collaborators and final product.
* Six PowerPoint slides depicting the collaborative process and final product.
* A non-refundable $200 check addressed to Alpha Rho Chi for each nomination (multiple nominations allowed). Submission fee pays for printing and mounting of display panels for exhibition at the 64th Alpha Rho Chi National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, March 24—27, 2011.

Judging/Awards
* Nominations will be judged by prominent professionals and educators within the fields of architecture and its allied arts associated with Alpha Rho Chi.
* Nominations will be prominently displayed at the Alpha Rho Chi National Convention and online.
* The winning entry will receive recognition at the national convention banquet and national coverage in Alpha Rho Chi print and on-line publications.
