Architectural Competition: “InstantHouse – Temporary Housing”

InstantHouse Temporary Housing launches the 4th edition of an ideas competition created by FederLegno Arredo, the Politecnico di Milano and MADEexpo.

Designers are invited to envision environmental, social and economic opportunities in temporary housing, which specifically address the scientific community within Politecnico di Milano’s Sustainable Campus project.

The competition explores potential innovative solutions derived from using new technologies in sustainable design, and which respond to the evolving typologies of city users and inhabitants. InstantHouse aims to combine temporality and mobility with both social interaction and ecological values, resulting in powerful new possibilities for temporary housing.

The competition welcomes applications from all students and young professionals in the field of architecture, engineering, industrial design, and urban planning worldwide.

Entries will be judged by a panel of judges from Region of Lombardy, Politecnico di Milano, Federlegno Arredo, MADEexpo, Triennale di Milano and Expo 2015.

InstantHouse winning projects will be featured as part of an exhibition hosted by the MADEexpo Milan fair 2012, an event which attracts over 250,000 visitors.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE:

• March 5th 2012: competition launch
• May 15th 2012: deadline for submitting questions
• June 4th 2012:  application form submission deadline

AWARDS:

• First  Prize: 1500 €
• Second Prize: 1000 €
• Third Prize: 750 €

The Jury reserves the right to award honorable mentions to any projects determined to be particularly merit-worthy entries.
