COMPETITION TITLE:  Triumph Pavilion 2015: Sky Pavilion, Museum Gardens, LONDON

CHALLENGE:
This international competition challenges participants is to design a temporary, freestanding, transportable and contemporary showcase Pavilion to be installed in the Museum Gardens in summer of 2015.

The theme for the 2015 Triumph Pavilion is the “Sky”, hence the Pavilion will be entitled “Sky Pavilion”. It is an exciting prospect and aims to be one that inspires architects to explore the 5th facade of most architecture project. The sky is a complex sphere with such elements as sun, moon, stars and clouds all adding to the dramatic effects of colour, day, night, texture, rain, sunshine etc.

The competition calls on participants to create a unique space that invites visitors to appreciate the role the sky and its elements play in our well being, perception of architectural structures and the world around us as a whole.

The winning design proposal will be one that is perceived to most satisfy the brief and is befitting of the Museum Gardens. It should also be inclusive and encourage / highlight the need for ecological and sustainable design principles where possible.

ELIGIBILITY:

Architecture Graduates
Architecture Students
Team (Architects, Architecture Graduates, Architecture Students)
Interdisciplinary Teams (engineers, designers, urbanist, artist, landscape architects in-conjunction with an architect).

Submissions can be the work of an individual or a group up to 4 members all aged 18 or over at the time of registration.

Entrants may register by filling the online registration form and submitting it with the relevant payment through a secure gateway.

FEES:
All entrants shall be required to pay an entry fee as follows:

• Special Registration: $120 US from 23rd January 00:00 (GMT) to 06th February 2014 23:59 (GMT)
• Early Registration: $200 US from 07th February 00:00 (GMT) to 15th April 2014 23:59 (GMT)
• Standard Registration: $250 US from 16th April 00:00 (GMT) to 30th September 2014 23:59 (GMT)
• Late Registration: $350 US from 01st October 00:00 (GMT) to 04th November 2014 23:59 (GMT)

RESULT ANNOUNCEMENT

DETAILING / BUILD / FABRICATION:
09th January 2015 – 08th May 2015

COMPLETION:
Completed and in place by 28th May 2015

REALISATION:
The winning individual or project team may be assigned to an architectural practice or co-architect to collaborate with to further develop the construction drawings and prepare it for construction where the individual or team lacks the experience. Structure is to be built off site and then assembled or installed placed in position in the Museum Gardens.

AWARDS
The winning proposal will receive the honour of designing the ArchTriumph Showcase Triumph Pavilion 2015: “Sky Pavilion” with detail as follows:

1st Prize

• Up to US$ 12,000 (TWELVE THOUSAND US DOLLARS) budget to construct the ArchTriumph Showcase Triumph Pavilion 2015: “Sky Pavilion”.
• Publication on Archtriumph’s website and Social Media platforms.
• Publication in architecture magazine, ArchTriumph book series, various architecture websites and blogs.
• Exhibited at the Triumph Pavilion opening event and during the London Festival of Architecture.

2nd & 3rd

• Publication on Archtriumph’s website and social media platforms.
• Publication in ArchTriumph book series, various architecture websites and blogs.
• Exhibited at the Triumph Pavilion opening event.
