LEX : Walsall Waterfront Competition

This new open design competition seeks innovative and exciting design proposals for phase two of the Walsall Waterfront redevelopment.

The competition is being organised by the RIBA Competitions Office on behalf of property developers Urban Splash in association with their partners Advantage West Midlands, Walsall Council and Walsall Regeneration Company.

Urban Splash is already on site with phase one of the Walsall Waterfront Development. It is a mixed use scheme which comprises public and private spaces along with bold architectural designs. A little further down the canal from the phase one site is where LEX will form the second phase. Bordered on two sides by canals LEX sits on the junction of Walsall Canal and the Walsall Town Arm and is 2.26 acres. The competition seeks designers with flair and imagination, who will add to the high standard of architecture produced in phase one. The designs must be ambitious and add to the ever heightened confidence in Walsall as a town for enterprise.
