Mission Possible : Autodesk Spy Gadget Design Contest

With the recent return of one of the best-known spies to movie theaters we wanted to offer you the chance to design your own dream spy gadget!

From the classic “shoe phone” to high-frequency ring-transmitters that can shatter glass, spy gadgets have a long history in spy films and books. Some were precursors to actual real-world devices while some were just plain fantasy.

We want to see what your dream spy gadget looks like and we’re giving away some fantastic prizes for the best designs¹!

Your design doesn’t actually have to be “buildable”, we’re just looking for inspired designs, whether inventive, funny or just plain cool.

How to Enter

Entry is easy: Design your inspired gadget in whatever native Autodesk file format you work in.  When it is complete, simply go to the official contest submissions page and upload your design file.

To be eligible for a prize, please include a still image of your gadget design and a description of what it is and what it does.  If you have made use of manufacturing community member-submitted content in your design please indicate the content piece.

You can submit as many designs as you like.

Call for submissions runs between : February 14th and April 18th, 2007.

How to Win

At the close of the submission window, we will convene a panel of Autodesk staff and manufacturing industry pundits to review the designs and narrow the entries to a short list in the following categories:

• Top Overall Design - based on detail of design and cool factor.
• Most Creative Design - based on inventiveness, humor or originality
• Best Use of Member Content - get browsing the member content library! We’ll be awarding a prize to the inventor who makes best use of content downloaded from the member content area of the manufacturing community site.

The short list of entries will then be posted and then it’s open to a community vote!

Have a look at the entries and rate them using the star-system. When the voting window closes, we will award prizes for the highest ranking gadget and one runner-up in each category.

Community voting will take place between May 2nd through May 25th, 2007, with winners to be announced soon after.

Winners will be notified by email and an announcement will be placed on the manufacturing community website.
