East-West - CALL TO ARTISTS / ARCHITECTS / DESIGNERS

East-West suggests a dialogue of interpretations and interpolations, inherent to geographic and cultural particularities in space, related to various local, regional, national, and global contexts. Viewed from Eastern and Western physical and philosophical points of departure, participating East-West artists, architects, and designers will reference spiritual and intuitive notions of three-dimensionality, while suggesting formal strategies related to materiality.  Expressed by literal or inferred media types, this foundation of works may include sculpture, paintings, graphics, video, collage, and architectural works that explore inter-connectivity of transdisciplinary thought.  ‘East-West’ may highlight artists, architects, and designers whose emerging body of work references a minimalist aesthetic toward symbolism.  The show’s intent is to propose a broad view of East and West—regardless of how that cultural boundary is interpreted.
